    Making your workouts more challenging as you go will force the body out of becoming adaptive. It is important for any kind of growth or progress. I prefer to add more time for the muscle being under tension before for I start to adding weight. Either one works, but I like to exact as much energy from the muscle before I move up in weight.


    1. Mitchell, excellent point! There are many different ways to apply the overload principle. The important thing is that you plan out how you will do it over time so you don’t get stuck on a plateau.
